BUT, the author repeated himself so much I wanted to the throw the damn book across the room.
I don't demand to be told the same damn thing over, and over, and over, and over, and over.
The worst? In a page and half he said the aforementioned matter four different ways.
This author getting paid by the word?
Swell volume for the forgetful.

The crones sit together in silence. You've heard that in their youth they roamed the state, gathered their knowledge shut. They were once many but now but two remain. "Oh child," the other sighs. You swear you run across a hundred worlds in her nighttime stare. "Friends don't permit friends read Goodkind."

Also Terry's treatment of his editors and creative person (cover art from his other volume) is shameful. I wish I could become my $'s back for this purchase.
This volume is a 2nd amendment, right fly propaganda. There is nix expert in it. It is misogynistic (even though it was a female protaganist). It is anti-islamic, anti-immigrant, entirely U.s. nationalistic - slave to the current populist agenda. I almost threw information technology in, except I don't unremarkably exit a volume unfinished.Don't carp reading information technology.
Also Terry'south handling of his editors and creative person (embrace fine art from his other book) is shameful. I wish I could get my $'due south back for this purchase.

Like Come on homo, was that really necessary??? so yep, readers beware. Our grapheme is raped by many many many many men. In fact, every unmarried man in this volume is a complete dooshbag.
you lot've been warned.
Well anyway, I go along going back and forth with 1 or 2 stars on this because of that main issue higher up. Ill round upwardly considering once I got over the filthy gustatory modality of all THAT in my mouth, in that location was a actually proficient story that was powerful and well written. Thankfully the writer eventually took it piece of cake on us and allowed our chief heroine to grow into a very powerful independent woman.
I understand its necessary to make your audience squirm, simply this was across squirm. I have a hard end with graphic kid rape. I don't wish to read any stories that have this and wish they all had a trigger warning.
Ive listened to quite a few audiobooks since this one, only I still have this story lingering in my head, not sure if that'due south adept or bad.
Brain palette cleanse time!

Angela Constantine has had it crude. Her mother is a drug addict, and, despite a steady stream of men passing through, she'southward never really had a father. In spite of rape and neglect, she's managed to cleave out a life for herself with a steady task and a place of her own. But Angela is special. She possesses the ability to recognize dangerous serial killers by just looking into their optics. Such men--because in this book (and in Nest) they're all men. Go figure--aren't prepared to have Angela turn the tables on them, and she'due south killed quite a number of them by the time we meet her. I don't want to spoil the plot, but suffice to say that we wind upward with a group of terrorists bent on striking a horrific blow confronting the U.s., and the only one who can stop them is Angela …
As with Nest, this is a compelling thriller of a book. Be warned that it gets quite gory in spots, and at that place are some fairly graphic depictions of rape as well. I exercise call up it'southward all in service of the story, merely it'due south non for the faint of heart.
Parts of the volume seem to be drawn from some of the more conservative elements of the news of the mean solar day. Much is fabricated of the terrorists entering the state across the US-United mexican states edge and taking advantage of sanctuary cities to lessen their chances of capture. They're all strictly from cardinal casting, and aren't given much in the way of personalities. They're there to be the Bad Guys and nada more than. Also, when Angela gets attacked, raped, left for expressionless, and manages to complimentary herself, the constabulary seem more upset about her illegal weapon than the crime she'southward reporting. Come to recollect of information technology, the whole business organization of looking into someone's eyes and instantly knowing if they're an irredeemable killer is a very conservative fantasy: some people just need killing, and it's a waste of resources to try and rehabilitate them. And, since this power operates with 100% accurateness, there's no chance of someone innocent getting killed by mistake.
It'due south entirely possible that the merely reason I even noticed all of that are my barely-latent liberal tendencies. I'm not ready to go to a Save the Whales vino and cheese party just however, but I definitely skew in that direction. Anyway, I found the experience of trying to second approximate a volume's politics while reading it somewhat distracting. Fortunately, I've had a off-white amount of experience with Facebook, so the practice of mentally rolling my eyes while reading something is familiar.
All that said, I did find this book a compelling page turner. There are a couple of simulated endings, places where the but reason I knew it wasn't really over was because I could meet how many pages were left. I'm curious to see where these books are going. With this volume and Nest, nosotros've been introduced to some characters and ideas. Standard story logic says that further books in the series may introduce more characters, and and then all the characters nosotros've met will unite against some huge threat, mayhap more threats if the series continues. Simply, if I've learned annihilation from these books, information technology is that Terry Goodkind is hardly a standard author. One thing's for sure: we're in for one hell of a ride. Recommended!

I actually enjoyed this book A LOT. This volume-this grapheme; Angela seems too large for it to just end. I'm always skeptical of men who endeavour to write in a women's point of view... If this is the new writing direction Mr. Goodkind intends to pursue, I find that I am liking it. His storytelling now seems to period with a greater grounding in reality. It hits home in a very visceral fashion.

The Girl in the Moon by Terry Goodkind is a so-so violent thriller.Angela Constantine considers herself to be a girl who was born cleaved. Her female parent was an addict who would exercise anything to become a plethora of illegal drugs. While her grandparents were protective and loving when they were live, she spent nearly of her time with her strung-out mother and the calumniating scum that hung around their trailer. She escaped as soon equally she could and Angela has made a private life for herself with a hugger-mugger mission.
Angela has been born with the ability to recognize killers past looking into their eyes. Not just does she recognize their capacity for violence, she also knows who they killed and how they did information technology. She uses this secret power to have revenge on men who victimize women, past killing them first.
The first thing whatever prospective reader needs to know immediately is that this is an over-the-top bloody, graphically violent novel that features multiple rape scenes. This was almost a Did Not Finish, a very rare upshot for me. I prepare it aside more than one time, request myself how much more than violence and rape could I put upwards with in order to finish the story. Angela has no redeeming qualities. Okay, peradventure only one, she loved her grandparents. The writing is uninspired and flat. The only reason I kept reading was I wanted to know how her ability to identify killers was going to be tied into fighting terrorism.

Information technology sent a shiver through my spine every fourth dimension I turned each page and read each give-and-take.
An eye-locking read.
I love Terry Goodkind. But not so much this book. The story was skilful, and mostly kept my attention. But there were so many details he felt needed repeating (almost endlessly) - it's about like he fabricated notes of those details while writing the book, only forgot to edit them out in the last typhoon. Makes the read tedious and redundant in parts. Goodkind is a better writer than that, and I expected more from him.
VerboseI dear Terry Goodkind. Just not so much this book. The story was good, and by and large kept my attention. But there were and then many details he felt needed repeating (well-nigh incessantly) - it's about like he made notes of those details while writing the book, but forgot to edit them out in the concluding typhoon. Makes the read tedious and redundant in parts. Goodkind is a better author than that, and I expected more from him.

We have all seen news footage or read bodily accounts of people and their families lives torn autonomously by the brutality and senseless acts of killers and madmen. I'm certain we all take wanted those monsters found, and justice served so they couldn't do information technology again. Well, Terry Goodkind lets us live that fantasy in THE Daughter IN THE MOON through Angela Constantine.
Angela intrigued me from the start paragraph "…her first idea was to wonder if this was the dark she was going to die." and by the finish of chapter six I was a fan. If there were only one discussion I could employ to describe Angela it would be deadly. I as well liked that Goodkind didn't make her a completely bad-ass and untouchable graphic symbol. She lost fights, she got hurt, and faced defeat. I admired that she never gave in and kept fighting fifty-fifty when the odds were against her. Ane of my favorite lines in the book that defined Angela was this one:
"In fact I've found that the constabulary has little do with justice, that laws are merely a way for some people to accept power over others and that if you lot want justice sometimes you have to brand it happen yourself. Know what I mean." Angela's words to Prosecutor John Babbington.
In THE GIRL IN THE MOON, Goodkind touched on topics that hit me on such a visceral level that I had to stop reading to call back myself. For instance chapter eleven, and one of my favorites in the book, is when Angela's grandpa Vito confronted and put the school Chief in his place defending Angela's actions against bullies. My inner weep for justice was crowing.
Goodkind does not hold back details with the graphic scenes in his book. I've seen reviews from other's about them especially the rape scene, which was hard for me to read. However, I've read only as graphic scenes from a few of my favorite female thriller authors, so I feel Goodkind didn't push the boundaries. If anything, information technology made me adore Angela even more than, and information technology showed how the justice system e'er blames the victim, and how laws protect criminals, not victims.
Dean Koontz's blurb for THE Girl IN THE MOON best describes what I thought of it.
"Terry Goodkind writes suspense with a slight fantastic border, and the upshot is a fresh, compelling thriller. This is pure entertainment, a true page-turner, and peachy fun." I enjoyed it tremendously information technology and promise to see another Angela Constantine novel soon.
I can't brand up my mind on this one. There were some large issues I had with the book that I'll outline below, simply I did relish the overall premise of the novel – the supernatural attribute and a (somewhat) strong woman equally the protagonist. There were some big issues I had with the book that I'll outline below, only I did savor the overall premise of the novel – the supernatural attribute and a (somewhat) strong woman as the protagonist. I may check out another story revolving around Angela Constantine, but it's not something I'm ready to recommend. On to my problems:
- I am a business firm believer that those that hurt anyone/anything weaker than themselves aren't redeemable. And so a story based around a vigilante really appeals to me. Merely I was surprised at how much I despised the joy Angela felt inflicting justice. To me she was inappreciably any meliorate than those she sought to punish. She seemed to take the aforementioned gratification they did from killing. I never realized I would wait this of a vigilante, but this volume exposed my belief that they should know that what they're doing isn't "right", only that it'south necessary.
- The continuous repetition. I kept thinking that surely the editor should have defenseless this. Information technology got really annoying to exist told the aforementioned thing over and over. I do have a functioning brusk term retention – no need to rehash this all the same again!
- The fact that I had to get 70% of the mode though the volume before the two subplots melded. Way past the indicate of interest on the terrorist line. Once they joined, I gained involvement in it.
- The way Angela was written. This is harder to pinpoint. I know the author had to go the point across that she is attractive, only the descriptions of her were too much, and once more, repetitive. I can't think how many times we're told why she wears short shorts to a gun fight. We become it. Nearly definitely felt like a human writing what he idea was a strong adult female. Would have benefited from a female editor. If it was a female, she needs to speak up a little more to ensure the characters are believable.
I think the writer's political views were strongly expressed in this book, and that's okay, after all, information technology's his book. He'll probably lose a lot of fans with this one. Just he gained a new 1--me! ...more than

Angela is crawly though, and for that, I tin't not charge per unit this book at least a 3/5, was originally a iv star read, but I couldn't get by the errors and the attitudes towards certain groups.
...moreOnce I started reading this book I didn't want to put it downwards. I tin't wait to read more than about Angela, the girl in the moon.
This book is a middle pounding roller coaster ride of emotions. Angela Constantine is like all my favorite strong female person characters wrapped up in one tough package. She had a rough childhood. Instead of letting it suspension her, she learned from it and became a strong independent adult female. In one case I started reading this book I didn't want to put it downwardly. I can't await to read more than well-nigh Angela, the daughter in the moon.
